Weekend Edition: June 9-10

In my UpCountry, it's a weekend of families, a wedding, the acquiring of a purple and yellow beta fish (one step closer to a homestead! :smirk), and cookouts.

Weekends like this are almost too much for me. I'm overly-sentimental around family. I take too many pictures of them, I laugh so hard at their jokes I start tearing up like a freak. Driving away from a family cook-out last night, I thought to myself: my life's so awesome, it's pretty ridiculous.

Now, really, my life doesn't look that awesome from the outside. But I sure feel great inside of it.

A 2-year-old poem of mine:

Pleasant Street

Skip, bang.
Skip, skip, bang.
I shot the record player
with a gun engraved:
Comment allez-vous?

It sounded like war.

I made the broken sounds
into a silence.

Then bang, skip.
Bang, bang, skip,
I went out on the street.
With gun in hand
and a music of my own making,
I paraded.

Funnies (which, this week, are not funny at all. See following:)

Have a good weekend! (Or continue having one, for that matter!)

PS: "Infructescences." Yeah.
